GATOR VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCES FOUR MORE SIGNINGS FOR 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.----  First-year head coach Michelle Patton has announced four more signings for the upcoming Fall season.  These four will join Kristin Kenney and Kyle Lamet who signed during the Fall.  These newest Gators are Kelly Burke (5-10, OH/DS, Redwood City, Calif/Canada College/Sequoia HS), Lisa Morgan (5-9, OH, Indiana Wells, Calif/LaQuinta HS), Beth Perkins (5-9, OH, Woodland, Calif/Mt. Hood Community College/Woodland Christian HS), and Sloane Williams (6-4, MH, Henderson, Nev./Lake Land College/Coronado HS).

"I can't speak enough about the four young ladies that we have signed,” stated Patton. “Add them to the players who are already committed and I have no doubt in my mind that they are ready to lay the foundation for Gator Volleyball in 2008,” said Patton. “Each of them are outstanding individuals and are collectively up for the challenge of competing in a great volleyball conference."

Kelly Burke was a Two-Time All-Conference (once at Canada and once at Skyline College).  She graduated from Sequoia HS in 2006 and was a Two-Time All-Peninsula Athletic League Team member.  Burke also was member of the League Championship Team her junior season and was Most Improved her sophomore season.

"Kelly will be a great steady player for the Gators next fall,” said Patton.  “She will bring a great amount of maturity to our team on and off the court,” added Patton.  “She is a player whose positive energy is contagious and one that you can always count on to work hard."

Lisa Morgan will be graduating this Spring from LaQuinta HS, where she was a four-year varsity starter and Team MVP.  She also was a three-time member of Desert Valley League First Team and two-time CIF First Team along with being three-time Team Captain.  Morgan led her team to the Championship Game of CIF SS Division III.

"Lisa is a great all-around player,” stated Patton. “Watching her fill various roles for her team this past year proves her ability to adapt and excel at whatever is asked of her,” noted Patton. “Her willingness to improve daily is just one of the components that will help her become a great college player."

Beth Perkins  is transferring to SF State from Mt. Hood Community College.  She was a two-time All-Conference Team selection and was MVP of her conference as well as being named Second Team All-American.  Perkins graduated from Woodland Christian High School in 2006, where she was League MVP her junior and senior seasons in volleyball.  She also was a two-time selection to the First Team All-League in basketball as well as soccer.

"We are excited that Beth has chosen to relocate back to California and be a Gator,” said the first-year Gator coach. “She will step in as a junior with a wealth of playing experience under her belt on the outside,” added Patton. “Beth is a competitor and is a great addition to the existing team."

Sloane Williams is transferring to SF State from Lake Land College where she was named to the All-Conference Team as well as the All-Tournament Team.  She graduated from Coronado High School in 2006, where she was the Coaches MVP Award recipient as well as First Team All-Conference selection.  Williams also was a member of the Regional Championship Team as well as the State Runner-up Team her sophomore season.

"Sloane is ready to get it going here at SFSU and is going to be a force for us at the net next fall,” said Patton. “Her size and ability to play the game at a high level are just a couple of things that makes her a great fit for this team and this conference."

SF State will be bringing back women’s volleyball this coming Fall.  The Gators are affiliated with the NCAA Division II and a member of the prestigious California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
