Tony Dress begins this academic year in his second year as the head of the Gator baseball program. Dress came to SF State from Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California, where he was the head baseball coach for three years. He coached the Mustangs to a 28-16 record in 2006 which the Mustangs hosted their first play-off game in 16 years. Los Medanos College finished in the top three in the state of California in hits, stolen bases, batting average, and doubles.

Dress also coached at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California, from 2001 to 2003. He turned a last place program into a winning program within 18 months. Prior to Acalanes High School, he was the Assistant to the General Manager of the Wichita Wranglers (Double A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and the National Baseball Congress) from 1995 to 1996.

From 1992 to 1995, he worked overseas as the Regional Game Development Coordinator for Major League Baseball International in Czechoslovakia, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand.

Dress graduated from California State University, Chico in 1993 where he was a member of the baseball team from 1991 to 1993. He was voted the Team Most Valuable Player as well as the Team’s Most Outstanding Hitter Award recipient.
