Bill TreselerMen's Basketball E-Mail: treseler@sfsu.edu Phone: (415) 338-1729 Treseler begins his fourth year at the helm of the Gator men's basketball program. This past season, Treseler guided the Gators to a 17-12 record which is the most wins by a SF State's men's basketball program since 1993-94 (21-10). SF State also finished tied for third place in the CCAA, the Gators highest place finish in the CCAA since joining the conference in 1998-99. Treseler also was named CCAA Coach of the Year and selected as the West Team head coach in the NABC/NCAA Division II All-Star Game. Two Gators were named to the All-CCAA Team while one was named Freshman of the Year (the first in SF State's men's basketball history). He came from Dominican University in San Rafael, California, in the summer of 2005, where he guided the Penguins to three consecutive California Pacific Conference Championships (2003-05). Dominican was ranked in the top 25 in the nation in NAIA for three consecutive seasons including being fifth in the nation during his last season at Dominican. Coach Treseler's teams have compiled a 142-112 overall record during his eight years as head coach of SF State and Dominican's men's basketball programs. He also was named the Conference Coach of the Year four consecutive season. In 2003-04, the Penguins established a school record for victories in a season with 29 and this past season they won their first National Tournament game in school history on March 11. His Dominican teams were ranked second (2002-03) and fourth (2004-05) nationally in points allowed defense. Prior to Dominican, Treseler was the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach from 1998 to 2000 at UC Davis. At UC Davis, he helped guide the Aggies to a 44-13 two-year record and two NCAA Division II tournament bids. UC Davis also was ranked in the top ten both of the season that Treseler was in Davis. Before UC Davis, he was the head boy's basketball coach at Salesian High School in Richmond from 1993 to 1998. Salesian recorded its first three consecutive winning season from 1996-98 under the tutelage of Treseler. They were also were Alameda-Contra Costa Athletic League Champions in 1997 the same season that Treseler was named Knight-Ridder News Service East Bay Coach of the Year. Treseler also has coached at Chemeketa Community College, George Mason University, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Berkeley. Besides his coaching resume, he also was the Athletic Director at Dominican this past academic year as well as being the Sports Information Director/Compliance Director from 2000-04 at Dominican. While at UC Davis, he taught in the Physical Education department and at Salesian High School he was also the athletic director. Coach Tresler received his Bachelor's of Arts in History from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982 and his Master's of Arts in Physical Education and Athletic Administration from St. Mary's College in 1997. Treseler is also a member of the National Association of Basketball as well as a member of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Region Selection Committee. He and his wife, Dina, have two children in Billy (9) and Dominic (6) and reside in Albany. |
