Jose Alvarez
Jose was a 4:30/9:48 runner as a sophomore in high school in 2001 but he soon stopped running in the fall of his junior year due to injury. After taking four years off, during which time he moved on to SF State, Jose eventually resumed running in the spring of 2006 as a junior and ran 4:27 for 1500m. Last fall, in his first season of cross country at the collegiate level, Jose was the team's #3 man placing 37th at the CCAA Championships and 60th at the NCAA DII West Regional meet. In the spring, Jose improved his personal bests to 4:18 (1500m) and 15:57 (5000m). This season, Jose enters as the #2 returning runner with a strong summer of training as he looks forward to his final year at SF State.
